We are pleased to say that all of the Shelby Cares Shelters have closed as of June 3, 2011.
This means that all families have been transitioned into temporary or permanent housing during this time of rebuilding or restoring.
Thank you for your support!

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the thousands of volunteers who sacrificed their time to help others in need. Whether you cooked food, or organized donated supplies (or ANYTHING in between) your work was noticed and appreciated. Also to those who bought supplies and gave out of the goodness of their hearts to others…Thanks. It has been 5 weeks since the first shelter opened at Hope, with 5 more quickly opening up housing a total of 600 residents. All residents have been transitioned as of last night (June 2) into temporary or permanent housing. The flood waters have receded and we may not see another disaster for years, but should a disaster or crisis arise, Shelby cares will be ready.
Shelby Cares is still collecting monetary donations to help offset the costs incurred from sheltering during the Great Flood of 2011. If you would like to donate you may mail checks to:
